Baby name suggestions?
by JimmyPage inboy or girl names, don't know for sure which as of yet.
preferably something with apostate or rock musician connotations.
i thought of "stevie ray" as in stevie ray vaughan and as a tribute to both steven hassan and ray franz but it sounds a bit too redneck for my taste.

A Cowboy Named Bud
by Meeting Junkie No More ina cowboy named bud was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in california when suddenly a brand-new bmw advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust .
the driver, a young man in a brioni suit, gucci shoes, ray ban sunglasses and ysl tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "if i tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will yougive me a calf?
bud looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "sure, why not?

Saddest day of my life
by WuzLovesDubs ini followed my instincts that the changes my 14 year old son is going through ran deeper than teenaged angst and i made an appointment for him to see a counselor through the county so he could talk to someone.
it took two months to get it.
we went yesterday, he and i. i spoke for a little about our life now, including the separation, the house, the jws, the shunning, my husbands alcoholism and his treatment of the kids, my husbands familial bipolar and depression and adhd...and then she spoke to my son separately.

Did anyone see "Earth without people"?
by hubert init was on the history channel tuesday night.. if you kept in mind the j.w.
theory of a "paradise earth", you'd see it would be absolutely impossible for 6 or 7 , even 20 million people to "maintain" the earth to keep it in liveable condition, never mind a "paradise earth".. all that time i was watching it, i was hoping my daughter and son-in-law was looking at it, too.
i wanted to call them and tell them about it, but i am not allowed to "talk about anything that has a religious agenda" for fear of losing them.. did anyone else see it?.

I saw it too - good stuff. I really loved the show before it - NOSTRADAMUS - 2012! Did anybody see that??
I've been wondering...with all the natural disasters, financial woes, etc., how in heck will anyone know it is the 'day of Jehovah' when things really start to go sour? We're all getting pretty used to hearing about some fiasco somewhere pretty well 24/7, when the big one hits, it could be anything, so I'm wondering whether anyone will think of anything as an ACT OF GOD at that point? Anyone think that way as well, or is it just me?

Wow, 20 paragraphs of tripe to answer a simple, rhetorical question that Jesus posed by way of a parable.
We have to remember that the Bible, as written, contains no chapters and verses. Those were added centuries later for 'ease of reference'. Lucky for this so-called 'faithful and discreet slave' bunch - they can take the hop, skip and jump approach in order to string together numerous snippets throughout the New Testmanet to give credence to their conclusion that it is in fact THEMSELVES that are Jesus' faithful steward'! Then they have to contort themselves in order to call it a class, and individuals, both at the same time! The more mind-boggling they make it, the more paragraphs you have to plough through to make 'sense' of it - the more they look like so-called food dispensers, but it's all only IN THEIR OWN MINDS.
As Jesus said: Woe to you, HYPOCRITES!

A cowboy named Bud was overseeing his herd in a remote mountainous pasture in California when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced toward him out of a cloud of dust
The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, Will yougive me a calf?"
The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.
The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg , Germany .
Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses an MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response.
Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech,miniaturized HP LaserJet printer, turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."
U.S.Government", says Bud.
This is a herd of sheep. .... -

What I love about "worldly" Bibles
by civicsi00 inwhen i was still a witness, i used to peek into "worldly" bibles just to see if there were any differences.
what i really loved about these so-called "worldly" bibles was that some of them changed the font color of jesus' words to red.
i always wished the society would bring more emphasis to jesus' words, maybe just putting them in bold or something.. anyone else ever feel this way?.

Great thread!
I had already picked up a New American Bible pocket version at a second-hand store some years ago, but this past weekend (again at the second hand store) got the medium illustrated edition (also St. Joseph's edition). It had never before occurred to me just who this St. Joseph is. Got looking at the pictures and the captions underneath and find out St. Joseph is Jesus' (earthly) father, Mary's husband. Now there's someone the WBTS leaves so far in the background that he never so much as left a blip on my radar. I found it refreshing to actually find out a little about how much he is looked up to in Catholic 'tradition' - I am beginning to find out just how much is really missing from JW theology.
I love 'wordly' Bibles and see now just how threadbare and stripped the NWT actually is.
